Melons continued to fall in price almost everywhere

The market for gourds in this season and at this time can be called the most predictable, as the situation continued to develop according to the expected scenario throughout the reporting period. The strengthening of negative price trends in the market for gourds, in general, was predictable, analysts at the East-Fruit project said. As for weather conditions, almost everywhere they were favorable, which contributed to the gradual increase in the supply of watermelons and melons in the market. It was this factor that most of all put pressure on prices, as demand in this segment remained restrained.

Maximum price reduction for watermelons, More than 2 times, East-Fruit project analysts recorded on the Ukrainian market, where a week earlier watermelons were on sale at the highest prices among all the countries analyzed. Almost the same decrease in the watermelon segment this week was noted on the Russian Federation market.

The opposite situation was recorded in Poland, where watermelons, according to the results of the reporting period, added $ 0.15 / kg. As experts explained, the main supply of gourds in Poland, as a rule, is imported products, and there are practically no significant differences in consumer activity. And even a slight decrease in the supply of watermelons in the Polish market leads to the establishment of positive price trends.

At the same time, in the eastern part of the region, by the end of the outgoing week, the situation on the watermelon market had stabilized, and there was practically no further decrease in previously established prices in this segment.

Rise in price melon during the reporting week, as in the case of watermelons, East-Fruit specialists recorded only in one country in the monitoring region, namely, in Belarus. Market operators noted interruptions in the supply of new batches of melons to the Belarusian market, and despite the fact that demand for these products remained restrained, sellers managed to raise previously established prices to $ 1.16 / kg, which became the highest value in the entire monitoring region.

If we analyze the melon market in the monitoring region as a whole, then these products continued to lose in price almost everywhere. The leader of the current week in this segment was the Russian Federation, where average melon prices by the end of the reporting period dropped from $ 1.59 / kg to $ 0.76 / kg. Also, a significant decrease in the previously established prices for melons was recorded in Moldova.

And only in Georgia and Poland, according to the results of the outgoing week, the previously established prices for melons did not change, but, according to experts, new price fluctuations in the segment of all melons in the region can be expected in the near future.
