Uzbek potato importers will not pay customs

04/05/2018

The President of Uzbekistan signed a decree exempting potato importers from customs duties, with the exception of customs clearance fees, valid until January 1, 2019.

The list includes fresh and chilled potatoes, whose importers will not pay customs duties, with the exception of clearance fees, until the end of this year.

Uzbekistan is currently facing serious problems in providing the population with its own potatoes, especially in the winter. A significant part of production is imported from neighboring countries, as well as from Russia.

Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan could purchase up to 500 thousand tons of potatoes from Kyrgyzstan.
