Ukrainian farmers began massively selling table beets

At the moment, the price of beets in Ukraine is already an average of 1.6 times lower than in early March 2019

According to analysts of the EastFruit project, this week in the Ukrainian market there was a decrease in prices for beets, which was due to the beginning of active sales of this root crop from storage.

To intensify trade and procurement activities, Ukrainian farmers are forced to reduce prices for these products. Today, beets in the Ukrainian market are offered for sale at a price of 2-3 UAH / kg ($ 0.08-0.12 / kg), which is on average 23% cheaper than a week earlier.

According to market participants, the main reason for lower prices for these root crops is a seasonal increase in supply on the market. Also, pressure on prices was exerted by a rather low demand for products from retail chains and wholesale companies.

It is worth noting that at the moment the price of beets in Ukraine is already 1.6 times lower on average than at the beginning of March 2019. At the same time, some market participants do not exclude that the downward trend in beet market prices will continue, despite a seasonal reduction in supply. They explain their opinion by the rapid deterioration of product quality in storage.
