Frozen raspberries rose to third place in the ranking of export products of the fruit and berry group with a specific gravity of 12.2%

According to EastFruit analysts, the export of fruit products from Ukraine in January-June 2020 decreased by 18.2% compared to the same period in 2019. Exports were also 6.3% lower than in the first half of 2018. Thus, Ukrainian exporters of fruits, berries and nuts received the lowest revenue for this period in the last three years, which amounted to $ 94.8 million.

The main source of export earnings in this product category continued to be walnut kernels, which brought Ukraine more than half of all foreign exchange earnings – $ 50.6 million. However, proceeds from the sale of walnut kernels fell by 16.5% over the year.

The second place with a specific weight of 18.2% is taken by the export of frozen wild-growing blueberries. However, there was also a decline in export earnings by 8% per year. On the other hand, export earnings from frozen raspberries, on the other hand, rose sharply, primarily due to higher export prices. Thus, frozen raspberries rose to third place in the ranking of export products of the fruit and berry group with a specific weight of 12.2%. These three positions provided more than 84% of foreign exchange earnings in the fruit and berry commodity group.

The export of apples and the export of inshell walnuts from Ukraine in the first half of 2020 decreased by more than one and a half times and took the fourth and fifth positions, respectively. For the rest of the product groups, revenue was less significant. Let’s just pay attention to the sharp decline in revenue from the export of sweet cherries and fresh strawberries, and a sharp increase in the export of dried fruits and hazelnuts, although the volume of revenue here remained small.
