Turkey intends to export $ 200 million worth of table grapes in 2021


Exports of fresh grapes from Turkey have grown by 22% since the beginning of 2021 compared to the same period in 2020, Anadolu news agency reported, citing data from the Exporters Council of the Aegean Region of Turkey.

In the period from January 1 to September 14, 2020, grape exports from Turkey amounted to $ 63 million, in the same period of this year, exports increased by 22% – to $ 77 million.

In physical terms, exports increased by 32% – from 54.665 thousand tons to 72 thousand tons.

The head of the Union of Exporters of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables of the Aegean Region, Hayrettin Uchak, noted that foreign supplies of table grapes in 2020 reached $ 158 million.

“We are confidently moving towards the goal of increasing exports to $ 200 million by 2021,” he said.

Uchak recalled that Turkey exported grapes to 49 countries in 2020. Russia is traditionally the main importer, exports to this country amounted to $ 42.7 million.
