Since the beginning of 2020, the consumer price index in the Sogd region has increased by 2.4%

The head office of the statistics agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Sughd region reports that since the beginning of 2020, a number of food products have significantly risen in price in the Sughd region. The highest price increases were observed for: lemons – 50%, cucumbers – 44.8%, grapes – 44.2%, potatoes – 39.9%, tomatoes – 37.2%, onions – 29.2%, apples – 40, 5%, beans – 25.9%, garlic – 25.4%, beets – 23.9%, bananas – 18.1%, pearl barley – 15.4%, pasta – 13.2%, sugar – 11 , 1%, mash – 8.4%, pears – 7.2%, buckwheat – 6.3%, bread – 8.7%, peas – 5.4%, cottonseed oil – 5.4%.

At the same time, for the indicated period, prices for: greens – 29.0%, pickled cucumbers – 19.9%, pumpkin – 11.9%, pickled tomatoes – 8.3%, tomatoes – 6.1%, carrots – 5, decreased , 7%, bay leaf – 2.1%.

The total sales of food products are dominated by meat and sausages (19.4%), confectionery (7.1%), flour (4.9%), vegetable oil (4.9%), sugar (3.6%) ), potatoes (3.6%), vegetables (2.9%), fruits (2.7%), cereals and legumes (2.6%).

Since the beginning of 2020, the consumer price index in the region has increased by 2.4%. The average monthly inflation rate in the consumer sector was 0.8% (in the same period last year it was 0.3%).

Also in the message of the regional statistics department, it is noted that in January-March 2020, compared with the same period in 2019, wheat imports decreased by 35.4%, or by 106210.6 tons, flour imports by 9.8% or 1639.8 tons, import of fertilizers by 30.3% or 5504.4 tons.

At the same time, the export of cotton yarn increased 5.5 times or 625.5 tons, the export of cotton fiber 1.6 times or 4233.7 tons.

Export of dried fruits decreased by 33.9% or by 1800.3 tons. Whether this is due to the coronavirus pandemic is not indicated in the statistical report.
