Prices for greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine went down again

17.09.2020

In the last week alone, the greenhouse tomato in Ukraine has fallen in price by an average of 19%

Since the beginning of this week, prices have resumed on the greenhouse tomato market in Ukraine, according to analysts of the EastFruit project. Most of the stationary greenhouse plants have already started to sell second-turn tomatoes in large quantities. At the same time, the supply of these products on the market continues to grow every day, while the demand, on the contrary, decreases.

So, just over the last week, the greenhouse tomato in Ukraine has fallen in price by an average of 19%. Today, greenhouse plants are ready to sell these products at 12-18 UAH / kg ($ 0.43-0.64 / kg), and prices for open ground tomato start at 5 UAH / kg ($ 0.18 / kg).

The main reason for the decline in prices in the segment of greenhouse tomato, market operators, is the increase in samples both in stationary greenhouse plants and tomatoes from summer greenhouses. At the same time, demand in this segment remains at an extremely low level.

It should be added that the price of tomato in greenhouse plants in Ukraine is already on average 10% lower than in mid-September 2019. At the same time, manufacturers do not exclude a further reduction in prices for these products if the current sales rates on the market are maintained.
