Potatoes in Poland are already from 5 cents / kg, and carrots have risen in price in Georgia. Market Review Week 34 of 2020

08/23/2020

Potato prices have grown in Russia and Ukraine. Carrots have risen in price in Tajikistan and Georgia. Prices for both products dropped in Poland

According to East-Fruit, this week the potato and carrot market remained stable only in Moldova and Belarus, while in other countries prices were revised, and, in some cases, quite significantly.

Thus, the main event of the week on the potato market was another decline in prices in Poland, where at the end of the reporting period these products were already offered from $ 0.05 / kg, and at their maximum prices did not exceed $ 0.13 / kg. Polish producers of carrots were also forced to significantly reduce prices, which were already in the range of $ 0.22-0.35 / kg.

Meanwhile, in Of Russia potato growers, on the other hand, were able to slightly raise prices despite the ongoing harvesting campaign, while carrots, as in Poland, fell in price, albeit less significantly. At the end of the week, you could buy potatoes and carrots on the Russian market at $ 0.12-0.20 / kg and $ 0.20-0.27 / kg, respectively.

IN Ukraine potato growers also raised prices slightly on the back of a slight increase in demand for their products. At the same time, the segment of carrots on the Ukrainian market remained practically unchanged: farmers preferred not to force sales, thereby trying to keep prices within the previous week. As a result, potatoes in Ukraine were offered at $ 0.20-0.25 / kg, and carrots at $ 0.16-0.25 / kg.

IN Georgia the market situation was just the opposite. Potato prices did not change compared to the previous week, remaining within the range of $ 0.16-0.28 / kg, while the carrot market participants were actively revising prices upward. Over the week, carrots in Georgia have risen in price by 25-45%, and the rise in prices was associated with interruptions in the supply of these products: the harvest of carrots has practically ended in the more southern regions of the country, while farmers from more northern regions have not yet announced the start of the harvesting campaign. As a result, at the end of this week, carrots were offered in Georgia at $ 0.23-0.33 / kg.

Market situation Moldova and Belarus virtually unchanged. Potatoes were still offered here at an average of $ 0.21 / kg and $ 0.20 / kg, respectively, while the average price for carrots remained at the level of $ 0.36 / kg on the Moldovan market and $ 0.32 / kg on the Belarusian market.
