Potato prices declined in Ukraine, but rose in the Russian Federation. Carrots rose in price in Moldova and fell in price in Russia

Potatoes

According to the East-Fruit project, this week in Ukraine the most active rate of decline in potato prices from all countries included in the regular monitoring of the project was noted. In just a week, these products in the Ukrainian market fell in price by 8-11% to $ 0.24-0.32 / kg against the backdrop of increased sales of local potatoes and still high imports from Belarus and the Russian Federation. It is worth noting that in the current season Ukraine continues to set records for the import of potatoes, and in December 2019 its volumes were 234 times higher than in the same month of the previous year!

Meanwhile in Of Russia weekly prices, albeit insignificantly, rose to $ 0.13-0.22 / kg due to growing demand for potatoes from local market operators and exporters. IN Belarus but the potato in price did not practically change and was offered at $ 0.19-0.23 / kg.

Similarly, significant changes in prices were not recorded in Poland, which for several weeks in a row holds the lead in this regard. So, local potatoes could be purchased on the Polish market at $ 0.26-0.36 / kg, and imported products (from the Netherlands or Belgium) – at $ 0.28-0.39 / kg. Potato market operators in Georgia, and, as a week earlier, they released these products at $ 0.24-0.35 / kg.

In the countries of Central Asia, the situation was somewhat different. IN Tajikistan weekly potato prices rose to $ 0.21-0.24 / kg. Meanwhile in Uzbekistan the price range has expanded: prices for low-quality products fell to $ 0.22 / kg, and potatoes with higher quality characteristics, on the contrary, went up to $ 0.26 / kg.

Carrot

The main changes in the carrot segment for the current week were recorded in Moldova, where the average price of these products increased by 14% to $ 0.29 / kg, while the market in other countries remained relatively stable

So in Georgia still offered the most expensive carrots from all countries included in the regular monitoring of the project: $ 0.35-0.38 / kg. IN Poland this product could be purchased at $ 0.15-0.21 / kg, and the price range on the market Of Russia was slightly wider: $ 0.14-0.24 / kg. Prices in Belarus reached $ 0.19 / kg, and in Ukraine ranged from $ 0.10-0.14 / kg. The cheapest carrots, as before, were offered in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan: $ 0.07-0.09 / kg and $ 0.07-0.08 / kg, respectively.
