Potato prices in Poland are rapidly declining due to low demand and lack of export

Today, Polish farmers are forced to ship potatoes of a new crop at a price of $ 0.12-0.15 / kg, which is on average 21% cheaper than at the end of last working week

The price of potatoes in Poland continues to decline rapidly, analysts at the EastFruit project said. According to market participants, the improvement of weather conditions in the main regions of production allowed local farmers to accelerate the harvest of early potatoes, which ultimately led to a significant increase in supply on the market and, as a result, to a negative price trend in this segment.

Today, Polish farmers are already forced to ship potatoes of a new crop at a price of $ 0.12-0.15 / kg, which is on average 21% cheaper than at the end of last working week.

Producers are forced to reduce selling prices for potatoes due to a rather restrained demand in the domestic market and a virtually complete lack of interest from export companies. At the same time, the supply of potatoes in Polish farms is constantly increasing, which only increases pressure on prices.

It is worth noting that today potatoes in Poland already cost an average of 1.6 times cheaper than in early July 2019. At the same time, many market operators do not exclude a further reduction in prices in the potato segment of the 2020 harvest, unless export of these products resumes in the near future.
