04/02/2020

From March 10, when the quarantine regime was introduced in Poland, until March 24, the average price of local greenhouse cucumbers decreased by an average of 64% from PLN 9.50 / kg ($ 2.27 / kg) to PLN 3.40 / kg ( $ 0.81 / kg)

The cold weather in Poland in recent days has supported prices for greenhouse cucumbers, but the situation in this segment of the fresh vegetable market remains difficult, analysts at EastFruitt project cited a fresh-market website.

The crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic affected primarily greenhouse vegetables. Prices, including for cucumbers, fell sharply and reached a minimum level for this time of year.

Polish producers of greenhouse products found themselves in a difficult situation, as the demand for their goods almost fell to a minimum. Many markets and bazaars were closed, the volume of purchases in shops and supermarkets fell sharply, and in addition, cucumbers are not included in the list of essentials and do not have useful properties such as onions, garlic or lemons.
