Ukrainian farmers began supplying the first small batches of melons this season last week

In Ukraine, over the past few days, the price of melons from local households has fallen sharply, analysts at the APK-Inform: Vegetables and Fruits project report, citing data from the actual daily monitoring.

According to the project, Ukrainian farmers began supplying the first small batches of melons this season last week. Today, the offer of these products is already becoming more widespread, as a result of which the prices for melons are quite rapidly dropping.

So, today Ukrainian farmers offer melons for sale at a price of 5-10 UAH / kg ($ 0.18-0.37 / kg), which is 1.7 times cheaper on average than at the beginning of the current season. The main reason for the fall in prices for melons, manufacturers call the seasonal increase in the supply of these products on the market. At the same time, farmers note a decrease in demand for these melons this week.

It is worth noting that despite the rapid decline in prices, melon in Ukraine today is on average 45% more expensive than in mid-July last year. At the same time, market participants do not exclude the possibility that next week the prices for these products will “sink” even more, as the supply of melons from local households is growing every day.
