Moldavian plum went to Italy

Agro-trading company Agarista Agricola SRL sent the first batch (20 tons) of Moldovan plums to Italy

This week the agro-trading company Agarista Agricola SRL sent the first batch (20 tons) of Moldovan plums to Italy. The buyer is a relatively small enterprise with a wholesale and retail market and a specialized fruit and vegetable store. Its task is to diversify and replenish the assortment of fruits in the context of a decline in the yield of some of them in the EU countries with small supplies of high-quality and relatively inexpensive products from various regions of Europe. According to representatives of the organizations of gardeners and exporters of the Republic of Moldova, this is the first, but apparently not the last supply of the Moldovan plum of the harvest 2020 to the Italian market.

Agarista Agricola SRL, as part of a group of Moldovan agricultural enterprises, established a marketing program for entering the EU fruit market, as well as contacts with potential buyers within the framework of the Investment Climate Reform in Moldova project, funded by the International Finance Corporation CBI (Netherlands). In addition, with the assistance of the project “Effective Agriculture of Moldova” ARM / USAID, the above-mentioned company in 2019, specifically for solving the problem of increasing the export of plums to the European Union, was certified according to the GlobalG.A.P standard. Already in the last marketing year, Agarista Agricola SRL started exporting plums to Germany (more than 200 tons of products were delivered).

According to Diana Vlasyuk, development manager of Agarista Agricola SRL, the most important condition for the Italian buyer of plums was that the products comply with the strict regulations for the residual pesticide content in fruits. The company conducted additional laboratory tests of the products, which confirmed the fulfillment of the client’s conditions “with a margin”.
