Since the beginning of this week, prices for greenhouse cucumbers from domestic plants have declined by an average of 28%

Prices for local greenhouse cucumber in Ukraine continue to decline, as a result of which at the moment these products are already significantly cheaper than in the second half of February 2019, analysts of the EastFruit project report. Project experts associate a negative price trend in this segment with a significant increase in the supply of cucumbers from local greenhouse plants. And in conditions of very moderate demand in this segment, this provoked a further decline in prices.

According to the daily monitoring of the project, only from the beginning of this week, prices for greenhouse cucumbers from domestic plants decreased by an average of 28%. Today, sellers are ready to ship these products at a price of 45-48 UAH / kg ($ 1.84-1.96 / kg). However, at the same time, key market players admit that even such measures did not lead to the desired result and did not entail an increase in sales rates.

In the segment of imported products, on the contrary, there were no significant changes. Deliveries of cucumber from Turkey continued to decline, while demand for products remained very restrained. In such circumstances, sellers preferred not to review previously formed prices, and still offered Turkish cucumber at a price of 42-44 UAH / kg ($ 1.72-1.80 / kg).

It is worth noting that today the local greenhouse cucumber in Ukraine is already on average 29% cheaper than in the same period last year. At the same time, representatives of greenhouse plants do not exclude the further reduction in the price of a new turnover of cucumbers as the supply of these products increases.
