Industry experts consider the main reason for the price increase to be a rapid reduction in stocks of Ukrainian pears

This week, Ukrainian gardeners were given the opportunity to slightly increase selling prices for pears, thanks to the fairly active demand from both wholesale companies and retail chains. This was reported by analysts of the EastFruit project.

So, according to the daily monitoring of the project, at the moment the main transactions in the pear segment are concluded at a price of 25-45 UAH / kg ($ 1.03-1.85 / kg), which is on average 18% more expensive than at the end of the last working weeks. However, at the same time, market participants do not exclude the possibility that if prices continue to rise, then imported products will begin to enter the mass market.

Industry experts believe that the main reason for the increase in prices for these products is the rapid decline in stocks of domestic pears. Most Ukrainian gardeners sell these fruits before the New Year holidays, since not all farms have storage equipment and sufficient experience to store this fruit. At the same time, experts emphasize that at the moment the bulk of the pears offered on the market is still imported products.

It is worth noting that today pear prices in Ukraine are on average 20% higher than in the same period last year. Key market players attribute this pricing situation to a reduction in pear production in the country due to unfavorable weather conditions during the ripening period.
