In Ukraine, once again there was a decrease in prices for greenhouse cucumbers

09/10/2020

In just a few days, the price of a greenhouse cucumber on the domestic market of the country fell by an average of 15%

Greenhouse plants in Ukraine are forced to reduce selling prices for cucumber, according to analysts of the EastFruit project. The reason for the negative price trend in this segment was the massive supply of second-turn cucumber from small farms in the southern regions.

According to the daily monitoring of the project, in just a few days the price of a greenhouse cucumber on the domestic market of the country fell by an average of 15% and today it is announced by producers at the level of 12-16 UAH / kg ($ 0.43-0.57 / kg).

According to the market participants themselves, the decline in prices for greenhouse cucumbers was quite expected, since every day the supply of second-turn cucumbers is growing on the market, while the demand for products remains at a fairly low level. It should be noted that greenhouse plants failed to avoid the price decline, even despite a significant decrease in competition from the open field cucumber.

We add that at the moment the price of a greenhouse cucumber in Ukraine is on average 14% higher than in the first half of September 2019.
