About 44-45% of berries are exported in the professional segment of growing blueberries. The main markets are the countries of the European Union.

According to AgroPortal, SEEDS.org.ua reports that approximately 44-45% of berries are exported in the professional segment of growing blueberries. The main markets for Ukrainian berries are the countries of the European Union.

About this at the webinar “Undefeated EU: achievements and failures of Ukrainian producers of fruits and vegetables in the market of developed countries” said the expert of the fruit and vegetable market Tatyana Getman.

According to her, blueberries carry the best of all berries. At the same time, in the structure of consumption, along with the export of cherries and strawberries, gardening occupies a very insignificant part, therefore, it has growth prospects.

However, the expert draws attention to the fact that this year the prices for blueberries in the domestic market of Ukraine were even higher than export prices. In particular, the expert compared the price level in the Lviv market “Shuvar” and the Polish “Bronisze”.

“If we take the customs data for 2019, including August, the average export price was 4.05 € / kg, and in the domestic market the same quality berries could be purchased for 5.15 € / kg,” said Tatyana Getman.

Nevertheless, all the major blueberry producers today must place exports in their strategic development plans. Blueberries are the most exported berry from Ukraine, she added.
