In Russia, prices for white cabbage almost doubled

06/23/2020

Today, manufacturers of white cabbage voice prices for their products in the range of 8-16 rubles / kg ($ 0.12-0.23 / kg), which is on average 1.8 times more expensive than at the end of last working week

According to the daily monitoring of the EastFruit project, the price of early cabbage began to skyrocket in Russia. According to experts, the main reason for the rise in price in this segment was the off-season period, when the production of super early varieties on farms actually ended, and cabbage of later varieties was not yet on sale.

So, today, manufacturers of white cabbage voice prices for their products in the range of 8-16 rubles / kg ($ 0.12-0.23 / kg), which is on average 1.8 times more expensive than at the end of last working week.

The reason for the price increase, according to farmers, was a decrease in supply on the market due to the off-season period. The harvesting season for early varieties of cabbage on the farms is coming to an end, while producers have not yet begun mass harvesting of products of later varieties. At the same time, the demand for cabbage is quite high today, which also provokes price growth in this segment.

Note that, despite the rise in price, today prices for white cabbage in Russia are formed in the same range as in the second half of June 2019. At the same time, market players do not exclude that at the beginning of next week, prices for these products can rise even more. However, in a week they are forecasting a significant price decline when medium-sized cabbage starts to arrive on the market.
