In Poland, another collapse in prices for cucumbers

07/31/2020

Today, cucumbers are on sale at $ 0.40-0.66 / kg, which is on average 20% cheaper than at the end of the last working week

Cucumber prices in Poland continue to decline for the third week in a row, according to analysts of the EastFruit project. According to market participants, the main reason for this situation is the volume supply of these products in conditions of restrained demand.

Local mills reported that cucumber sampling was stable. In addition, cucumbers from summer greenhouses and open ground began to go on sale in large quantities. Considering all of the above factors, manufacturers have decided to once again reduce selling prices in this segment. So, today cucumbers are on sale at a price of $ 0.40-0.66 / kg, which is on average 20% cheaper than at the end of the last working week.

Note that at the moment, prices for cucumber in Poland have already dropped by an average of 42% below last year’s level in the same period. At the same time, the majority of market operators predict a further reduction in prices in this segment. They argue their opinion by the fact that, due to heavy rainfall, the supply of substandard cucumber has noticeably increased, which can also put pressure on prices.
