In 2019, farmers of the city of Levakant in the Khatlon region harvested a total of 342 tons of various fruits. This is 110 tons more than the previous year.

In total, 200 hectares are allotted for orchards in the city’s farms and public farms. Of these, the largest area of ​​60.7 hectares is occupied by apricot plantations, 30 hectares – plum orchards, 24.5 hectares reserved for peaches, 21.9 hectares – for almonds, 18 hectares – for pomegranates, persimmon grows on 8 hectares, 7 – Walnut. Only 6 hectares are occupied by apple orchards and 4.4 – fig plantations.

It should be noted that a significant part of the gardens are young gardens, some of which have only just begun to bear fruit, and some are not yet. Last year alone, about 9 thousand different fruit trees were planted in Levakant.

As a rule, farmers acquire seedlings adapted to the conditions of the region from nurseries operating in the city. One of them, the Abdukarim nursery, is currently preparing more than 58 thousand seedlings of fruit trees on its lands. These include 10 thousand sweet cherries, 15 thousand plums, 8 thousand seedlings of pear, 5 thousand walnuts, 12 thousand peaches, 8 thousand seedlings are apricot, figs, persimmons.

In total, in the Khatlon region, which includes the city of Levakant, new orchards and vineyards are laid on an area of ​​1171 hectares, of which 930 hectares are rainfed. Last year alone, 263 hectares of orchards and 67 hectares of vineyards were restored. For 2019, a total of 202 thousand tons of fruit and 106 thousand tons of grapes were harvested in the region.
