The share of fruits and nuts in Georgia’s total exports for the same period ($ 1503.44 million) is 2.3%

According to the National Statistics Service of Georgia, the volume of exports of fruits and nuts (group 8 according to NTN FEA) for the first half of 2020 in dollar terms amounted to $ 35.17 million.The share of fruits and nuts in the total volume of Georgia’s exports for the same period ($ 1503.44 mln) equals 2.3%. The main positions in the group were occupied by hazelnuts – $ 18.75 million, tangerines – $ 3.83 million, blueberries and other berries of the Vaccinium genus – $ 2.43 million, bananas – $ 1.93 million, oranges – $ 1.82 million and apples – $ 1.53 million

Compared to the same period last year, fruit exports increased by 20.5%.

In January-June 2019, fruits and nuts were exported for $ 29.19 million.Their share in the total volume of Georgian exports for the same period ($ 1,789.44 million) was 1.6%. The leading positions were held by hazelnuts – $ 13.22 million, apples – $ 4.19 million, bananas – $ 3.51 million, tangerines – $ 1.97 million and pistachios – $ 1.28 million.

Export of vegetables (group 7 according to NTN FEA) for the first half of 2020 amounted to $ 7.59 million. The share of vegetables in Georgia’s total exports for the same period is 0.5%. The main positions in the group were taken by tomatoes – $ 1.47 million, potatoes – $ 0.86 million, mushrooms of the Agaricus family – $ 0.80 million and eggplants – $ 0.58 million.

The volume of export of vegetables in comparison with the indicator of a year ago decreased by 6.3%.

In January-June 2019, vegetables worth $ 8.10 million were exported from Georgia.The share of vegetables in the total export volume was 0.45%. The leading positions were taken by tomatoes – $ 1.60 million, potatoes – $ 0.84 million, mushrooms of the Agaricus family – $ 0.76 million and cucumbers – $ 0.67 million.
