The price increase is due to a fairly high demand for quality carrots in conditions of limited supply

This week, prices for quality carrots in Russia began to rise again, according to EastFruit project analysts. According to market participants, the price increase is due to a fairly high demand for high-quality carrots in conditions of limited supply. Wholesale companies and retail chains are actively purchasing these products, while carrot stocks in farm storages are rapidly declining.

According to the project, an increase in demand for products allowed local farmers to increase the price of carrots. So, at the moment, carrots are offered for sale at a price of 14-23 rubles / kg ($ 0.18-0.30 / kg), which is on average 15% more expensive than at the end of the last working week.

The project experts explain the positive price dynamics by the seasonal depletion of stocks of quality products on farms. According to market participants, wholesale companies are increasingly experiencing difficulties in acquiring the required volumes of high-quality carrots.

However, it is worth noting that, despite the next rise in price, at the moment carrots in Russian farms are significantly cheaper than a year ago. Recall that at the end of April 2019, farmers managed to sell on average 29% more expensive than today, despite the fact that then cheaper products from Belarus steadily entered the market.
