Even snow and rain will negatively affect the state of plants in the flowering stage.

Since the beginning of this week in Georgia there has been a noticeable cooling, it is raining, and in some places it has snowed. According to the representative of the Georgian Agricultural Research Center Zviad Bobokashvili, such weather conditions will negatively affect crops that have already entered the flowering stage, in particular apricot, tkemali, alucha, dogwood, early almonds, plums, cherries, etc. d.

“There are no frosts at the moment while it is snowing and raining, but let’s see what the weather will be like in the near future. However, even snow and rain will negatively affect the state of plants in the flowering stage. Rainfall negatively affects the pollination of flowers, the formation and development of the ovary, and also contribute to the spread of dangerous fungal diseases. And, for example, a monilial burn or moniliosis (caused by the fungus Monilia cinerea) can sometimes cause bone damage even more than small frosts, ”said Zviad Bobokashvili, EastFruit.
