05/19/2020

Speakers’ speeches will be accompanied by exclusive analytics of developments in the global and regional fresh apple markets

Tomorrow, May 20, 2020, the EastFruit project will host the first international online conference, Apple Predictions, with speakers from Poland, Serbia, Moldova, Ukraine, Russia, Georgia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

During the conference, representatives of different countries will talk about how apple orchards were wintered, whether production prospects will decrease due to spring frosts and droughts, what will be the quality of the apple and what will be the demand for it. Speakers’ speeches will be accompanied by exclusive analytics of developments in the global and regional fresh apple markets.

The moderator and host of the conference will be Andrei Yarmak, economist at the Investment Department of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) from Rome, Italy. Speakers are the largest producers and exporters of apples from exporting countries, as well as importers from Russia – the leader in the world ranking of apple importing countries.

“We are making every effort to ensure that information on the situation on the apple market is accessible to all its participants. A higher level of market transparency can reduce business risks. This is especially important now, when everything is changing very quickly and dynamically against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic, low oil prices and the collapse of the global tourism industry, ”says Andrei Yarmak.

The event will begin at 10:00 Kyiv time, Chisinau and Moscow time, at 11:00 Tbilisi time, at 12:00 Tashkent time and Dushanbe time, and at 09:00 Warsaw and Roman time on the Zoom platform, kindly provided by the international agro-media agency Sapienza-Media. Join the Zoom conference here.

The conference was organized by the EastFruit project with the support of the FAO and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association (UPAA), the international analytical project Fruit-Inform and the FARM Federation of Agricultural Producers of Moldova. Participation in the conference is free, but the number of participants is limited. During the event, all participants will be able to ask speakers questions.

The conference recording will be later also available on the EastFruit YouTube channel. To receive a notification about the placement of the conference recording, we advise you to subscribe to the channel and put a bell.

We remind you that the recording of the Anti-Crisis Fruit and Vegetable Conference held by the project in early April is available here, and the recording of the international berry conference “Berries and covid-19: Impact on Prices, Production and Trade” held in mid-April can be viewed here.
