Turkey intends to bring dried apricots export to $ 500 million

The Turkish province of Malatya accounts for 85% of the world exports of dried apricots.

Last export season (August 1, 2019 – July 31, 2020), 96.4 thousand tons of dried apricots worth $ 252.67 million were exported from Turkey to 115 countries, EastFruit informs.

The head of the Malatya Commodity Exchange Ramazan Ozcan told Anadolu that the export of dried apricots has grown significantly in recent years.

“The goal has been set to double the export of dried fruit in a short time, and there are all the possibilities and support of the state for this. Turkey intends to increase the export of dried apricots to $ 500 million, ”Ozcan said.

He said that the price of dried apricots varies depending on the quality and size of the product. In general, the price range is from 10 to 35 liras, Ozcan said. T

According to him, the price for organic dried apricots this year fluctuates in the range of 30-35 lire per kg, which pleases producers.
