The Moldovan government approves the bill on subsidized insurance in the agricultural sector

The law will regulate the relationship between insurers and agricultural producers arising in the process of insurance in agriculture

The decision of the Government of the Republic of Moldova to approve and submit to the Parliament a draft law on subsidized insurance in agriculture was published in Monitorul Oficial on Friday, July 31, MOLDPRES reports.

This law is aimed at encouraging agricultural producers to ensure property interests against the risks inherent in agricultural activities, and to protect their interests in the insurance process.

The law will also regulate the relations between insurers and agricultural producers arising in the process of insurance in agriculture, as well as the relations established between them, on the one hand, and public institutions, on the other, in connection with the subsidization of insurance premiums from the state.

According to Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ion Perju, the agricultural sector is very vulnerable to natural disasters and agricultural insurance is a reliable long-term government-backed mechanism that will protect farmers.
