Kula accepted and processed more than 700 tons of apples in a week

Apple harvesting in Georgia is in full swing. According to the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, as of September 17, more than 2 thousand tons of non-standard apples were processed by nine companies included in the program to promote the implementation of non-standard apples.

“It should be noted that the state of the Georgian processing sector is improving from year to year, due to technical re-equipment and production automation. That, on the one hand, reduces the cost of products and makes them competitive, and on the other hand, increases the standards by which Georgian products freely enter the world markets, “said Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Georgi Khanishvili at a meeting at the processing company GeoConcentrant Kula “.

From the very first days, the Kula company joined the program to promote the sale of non-standard apples and registered with the Coordination Headquarters. According to the founder of the company Ivane Goliadze, the company received and processed more than 700 tons of apples in a week. Both non-standard and standard fruits are accepted. The company’s processing capacity is 200 tons of raw materials per day.

Under the state program, a subsidy of 0.10 lari (3 cents) is given for 1 kg of non-standard apples. In the case of purchasing non-standard apples, the state subsidy will be received by those fruit-processing companies that will purchase non-standard apples from individuals by December 1, 2020 for at least 0.22 lari (7 cents) per kilogram.

Companies wishing to join programs to promote the implementation of the 2020 apple harvest are required to register with the Coordination Headquarters in electronic form.

The work of the headquarters will continue until December 15.
