Moldovan exporters of fruit and grapes to the EU will receive international grants

02/07/2020

Grants will be allocated on terms of co-financing (own contribution of the exporting agrarian to the implementation of the marketing plan – 50%)

The “Effective Agriculture of Moldova” project AWP / USAID has announced a new line of grants for Moldovan fruit and table grape exporting producers to implement marketing plans providing for the opening and expansion of export of these products to EU countries, as well as to other “non-traditional” sales markets. Potential beneficiaries can submit applications to the office of the Chisinau AWP / USAID until March 16 this year. The size of the grants is negotiated individually, but they should fall within the range of 0.6-0.9 million lei ($ 34.5-51.7 thousand) and will be allocated on the basis of co-financing (own contribution of the exporting agrarian to the implementation of the marketing plan – 50 %).

Grants can be used to solve a wide range of problems: production of highly liquid (in the mentioned markets) fruit and grape varieties; purchase of sorting / packaging lines, including consumer kaseroli, flowpack, tip pooling, IFCO, Europool and others; the use of other technologies of the post-harvest cycle; creation of pages on the Internet and promotional materials; training.

In this context, it is worth recalling that for 2020 duty-free quotas for suppliers of fruits (plums) and table grapes to the markets of the European Union countries were increased to 15 thousand tons and 20 thousand tons, respectively.
