During the week, the supply of tomato from Turkey continued to increase, as a result of which the supply on the market remained excessive

In Ukraine, the price of imported tomato produced in Turkey continues to decline, EastFruit project analysts said. The reason for this was the rather weak interest of wholesale companies and retail chains in the procurement of these products.

So, during the week, the supply of tomato from Turkey continued to increase, as a result of which the supply on the market remained excessive. At the same time, customer activity continued to decline. Due to low sales rates, most wholesalers and retailers reduced their tomato purchases and acquired new lots as stocks were sold.

In these circumstances, sellers continued to lower selling prices to intensify sales, and today, imported tomato is offered for sale at a price of 23-25 UAH / kg ($ 0.94-1.02 / kg), which is on average 16% cheaper than at the end of last working week.

It is worth noting that the price of imported tomato in Ukraine at the moment is already on average 41% lower than in the same period last year. According to key market players, if the sales rate in the tomato segment does not accelerate in the near future, then the reduction in prices for imported tomatoes may last until the end of February.
