In the Lipetsk region, a vertically integrated production has been created – from growing potatoes to processing, packaging, storing and transporting finished products

The harvesting of potatoes is nearing completion in the region. As of September 30, it was harvested from 4.1 thousand hectares (79%), 132 thousand tons were received. The average yield is 318.7 c / ha, the RF Ministry of Agriculture reports.

Potato production in the Lipetsk region is carried out by 14 large farms and more than 20 K (F) Kh. In total, this year they have to harvest more than 5.2 thousand hectares.

Enterprises in the region grow potatoes not only for sale, but also for processing. For this purpose, a plant for processing and preserving potatoes LLC “Lam Weston Belaya Dacha” was built in the region. The company is engaged in the production of French fries and potato wedges using technology that maximizes the preservation of the useful properties of the product. This first French fries plant in Russia, with a design capacity of 200 thousand tons of potatoes per year, was commissioned in 2018.

“The creation of such a vertically integrated production – from growing potatoes to processing, packaging, storing and transporting finished products – became possible thanks to the implementation of the import substitution strategy in Russia and the attractive investment climate in the region,” the Lipetsk Region Administration believes. “Such projects contribute to the use of the most modern production technologies and the creation of highly productive jobs in the region.”

Also, in the fields of the region, the collection of open field vegetables continues. At the end of September, more than 4.9 thousand tons were obtained from 167 hectares. These are mainly onions, carrots, zucchini, as well as tomatoes, cucumbers and garlic. In total, 509 hectares have been allocated for open field vegetables this year.
